The Sindh cabinet has given approval for a new system to monitor student attendance, aiming to boost school participation and lower dropout numbers across the province. The decision was made during a meeting led by Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, where officials presented details of how the system will work.
Under this initiative, every student will receive a unique identification number. Schools will be required to mark daily attendance using a mobile application. Officials explained that the system will allow attendance to be tracked in real time and help schools respond quickly to cases of frequent absence.
The chief minister stated that teachers will get alerts if a student remains absent for several days in a row. Attendance data will also be reviewed through live dashboards available at both provincial and district offices.

He further noted that the system will run through teachers’ mobile phones, and the cost of data usage will be covered within school budgets.
During the same meeting, the cabinet also reviewed a proposal to grant 20,000 scholarships to students studying in public universities. The plan focuses on helping young people gain skills that match the demands of the digital job market.
