Govt announces major fuel price cut, diesel down Rs135 per litre

Islamabad: The government has announced a significant cut in fuel prices across Pakistan, reducing the price of high-speed diesel by Rs135 per litre and petrol by Rs12 per litre.

This move comes as part of the latest review of petroleum prices, following shifts in the international oil market and efforts to give relief to people dealing with rising inflation.

This announcement follows a period of frequent changes in fuel prices, when rates had earlier gone up because of increasing global crude oil prices and regional tensions that disrupted supply chains.

According to officials, the latest reduction is meant to help stabilize fuel costs within the country and reduce pressure on transporters, businesses, and households that have been struggling with higher daily expenses in recent weeks.

The change is part of a continuing series of adjustments in petroleum prices, showing how closely Pakistan’s fuel costs are linked to global oil market trends and fluctuations in the exchange rate.

Economic analysts believe that changes in fuel prices have a direct effect on inflation, especially on transport fares and the cost of essential goods. Because of this, fuel pricing remains one of the most important economic indicators in the country.

The revised prices are expected to come into effect immediately after the official notification is issued.
