KP to launch 125-km train service connecting six major cities

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, in collaboration with the federal government, has approved a plan to launch a new rail project called “Peshawar Valley Railway.”

This will be the first railway initiative in the province carried out jointly by the provincial and federal authorities. Officials have already begun feasibility studies and preliminary groundwork for the project, which is expected to serve millions of passengers across the region.

The railway will be developed in three phases. In the first phase, a 62 kilometre track will connect Nowshera, Jahangira and Peshawar, and work on this section is expected to start soon.

The second phase will include a 65 kilometre route passing through Nowshera, Mardan and Dargai. The third phase will add another 60 kilometres of track linking Kohat and Jhang. New railway stations will also be built during each phase to improve connectivity and make travel easier for people in these areas.

The Secretary of Transport in KP described the project as a major development for the province. According to officials, the railway will help lower infrastructure costs, improve transport efficiency and provide economic and travel benefits to millions of residents.

Authorities also said the initiative supports both federal and provincial development goals and will further strengthen cooperation between the KP government and the federal government.

The new railway is being viewed as an important step for the province’s development. It aims to provide modern transport facilities while creating new opportunities for passengers and local communities.

Both governments hope the project will become an example of successful cooperation between federal and provincial authorities in future transport and infrastructure projects.
