Lahore police have confiscated 35,726 kites and 1,791 spools of metal string in a citywide operation against kite flying this year, a police spokesperson said.
During the crackdown, officers arrested 1,681 people and registered 1,647 cases against them. Hundreds of kites and all the recovered metal strings were seized from those detained.
Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Bilal Siddique Kamyana said that the Anti-Kite-Flying Act will be implemented in full, stressing that any loss of life caused by kite flying is intolerable.
He warned that anyone involved in manufacturing, selling, or using dangerous materials such as metal strings and kites would face strict legal action.
Kamyana further directed that both field and supervisory officers will be held accountable if any injuries occur due to metal strings. He urged citizens to act responsibly and immediately report any kite flying incidents to the police helpline 15 to help ensure public safety.
