Islamabad seals seven illegal sheesha cafés in crackdown

The Islamabad district administration launched a late-night operation against illegal indoor sheesha cafés, sealing seven outlets, arresting six people, and imposing heavy fines.

An ICT administration spokesperson said indoor sheesha cafés are banned under Islamabad High Court orders, and strict legal action will be taken against violators.

Deputy Commissioner Irfan Nawaz Memon instructed assistant commissioners to act immediately in their areas, warning that any negligence in enforcement would be held accountable.

“No indoor sheesha café will be allowed to operate. Anyone found inside during raids,  including customers, will face legal consequences,” DC Memon stated.

Officials said the campaign aims to enforce court directives and protect public health, urging citizens to report such activity. Surprise inspections will continue across the capital, with on-the-spot action taken against both owners and visitors.

The drive is on the orders of the Islamabad High Court, which has directed a strict clampdown on indoor sheesha use. Authorities also advised the public to avoid such establishments to prevent arrest or legal trouble.
