Husband and son admit to killing three women in Karachi

KARACHI: The mystery surrounding the deaths of three women in a Karachi apartment has been solved after the husband and son confessed to the killings, police confirmed on Wednesday.

Authorities said the suspects were arrested and claimed financial difficulties as the motive behind the gruesome act.

The victims, found last week in a flat in Gulshan-e-Iqbal’s Block 1, included 52-year-old Samina, her 19-year-old daughter Samreen, and 22-year-old daughter-in-law Maha.

Samina’s 30-year-old son, Muhammad Yasin, was found in critical condition and taken to the hospital, while the family head, Muhammad Iqbal, is reportedly mentally unstable, according to The News.

Police initially suspected the women died from a gas leak, but post-mortem results indicated that one body was already two days old when authorities arrived. Yasin, found semi-conscious, was hesitant to give a statement, prompting the arrest of both father and son.

A police surgeon told Geo News that suspicious substances were found in Yasin’s blood, which contributed to the deaths of the women. Investigators also revealed that Iqbal is linked to witchcraft practices.

The family reportedly had loans exceeding Rs15 million and had rented a house and a car. Yasin was involved in the property business, and a letter from Iqbal is under investigation.

One of the deceased, Maha, had also written a letter before her death, while Iqbal’s letter contained “private matters” that were not sent.

Sindh Home Minister Zia Lanjar has taken notice of the case and directed SSP East District to ensure a transparent investigation.
