KARACHI: The Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) has announced that the first supermoon of the season will light up Pakistan’s skies on the night of October 7.
According to SUPARCO, the supermoon will rise from the east at 8:47 PM and set in the west, appearing 6.6% larger and 13% brighter than an average full moon.
The commission also noted that Saturn will be visible close to the Moon, appearing to its left on both October 6 and 7.
This event marks the first of several supermoons expected this year. SUPARCO revealed that two more will occur on November 5 and December 5, with the brightest one anticipated in November when the Moon will be just 221,817 miles (357,344 km) from Earth.
Stargazers across Pakistan can look forward to this rare celestial display, which signals the start of an exciting lunar season for sky enthusiasts in 2025.
