Yamaha Motor, a renowned motorcycle manufacturer in Pakistan, has recently disclosed yet another round of price hikes for its motorcycles, despite grappling with a notable decline in sales.
According to recent statistics, the initial four months of the current fiscal year (2023–24) witnessed a significant 10 percent drop in Yamaha bike sales, plummeting from 4,856 units to 3,237 units.
Surprisingly, in the face of this downturn, the company has opted to increase the prices of one of its highest-selling models in the country.
Yamaha attributes this decision to the prevailing economic conditions and the escalating production costs, which have compelled a continuous upward adjustment in the prices of their two-wheelers.
This marks the second instance of a price hike in less than a month, sparking concerns among buyers who are already grappling with the repercussions of the soaring prices in the automotive market.
In an official statement, Yamaha Motor has revealed that the price increase will affect specific models, namely the YBR125G in Red/Black and Matt Dark Gray/Matt Orange variants.
This move by the automotive giant raises eyebrows, especially given the backdrop of diminished sales, and adds to the challenges faced by consumers already grappling with the financial strain imposed by the escalating prices in the market.
