Lahore: On Monday, the Punjab School Education Department declared new timings for schools in the province during Ramadan.
As per the department’s notification, single-shift schools will operate from 8:30 am to 1 pm on Monday to Thursday and Saturday. Fridays will have a shorter schedule from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm. Second-shift schools will run from 1 pm to 4 pm during the holy month.
The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee announced the sighting of the Ramadan moon in Pakistan, confirming the start of fasting tomorrow (Tuesday).
Moon sighting committee chairman Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad made the official announcement after a meeting in Peshawar, attended by clerics from various schools of thought. The Ramadan moon was sighted in Lahore and Peshawar before the official announcement.
