Pakistan has officially reported four cases of the JN-1 sub-variant of the Omicron variant, according to the Ministry of Health.
The National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) confirmed that all four individuals have successfully recovered from the virus, showing no complications. Caretaker Health Minister Dr. Nadeem Jan assured that the health authorities are closely monitoring the situation, with enhanced screening at international airports and borders.
Notably, the World Health Organisation has categorized JN-1 as a Variant of Concern (VoI). Dr. Nadeem Jan emphasized the minimal risk of COVID-19 complications, given that approximately 90% of Pakistan’s population is already vaccinated.
Despite the recovery of the reported cases, he advised the public to remain cautious and adhere to preventive measures, especially during the winter season.
