Islamabad – The Government of Pakistan has announced the complete removal of all travel restrictions associated with Covid, a disease that has tragically claimed thousands of lives in the country since its outbreak in 2020.
According to officials from the Ministry of Religious Affairs, individuals applying for Hajj will no longer be required to submit a Covid vaccination certificate.
They highlighted that a new advisory would be issued based on the directives of the Saudi government before sending pilgrims to the kingdom for Hajj.
Health officials emphasized that travelers coming to Pakistan are no longer obligated to present vaccination certificates or a negative coronavirus test report.
The National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) revealed that this decision aligns with the guidelines provided by the World Health Organization (WHO).
The NCOC stated that the removal of travel restrictions was a result of adherence to WHO guidelines. Additionally, the requirement for conducting daily medical tests for Covid on two percent of passengers at Pakistani airports and entry points has been eliminated.
However, surveillance related to epidemic diseases will persist at the airports. It is noteworthy that the Ministry of Religious Affairs will continue to monitor the situation and provide further guidance based on the evolving circumstances and the instructions received from the Saudi government.
The move signifies a significant step towards normalization and aligns with global efforts to adapt to the changing landscape of the pandemic.
