PTI has revealed the complete list of candidates for the impending Senate election set for April 2. This declaration arises amidst internal uncertainties within the party regarding the identities of the contenders.
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) is gearing up to conduct the Senate polls next month, aiming to fill the 48 vacant seats left following the expiration of the incumbent senators’ 6-year terms last week.
According to the electoral body’s schedule, today (March 16) marks the deadline for the submission of nomination papers.
Earlier, senior PTI figure Asad Qaiser raised doubts regarding the finalization of candidate names by PTI’s founding chairman, Imran Khan.
Nonetheless, PTI later released the list of candidates “approved” by Khan, through the party’s official account on X, formerly known as Twitter.

PTI leader Mian Aslam Iqbal had previous announced the party’s candidates for the Senate elections, but confusion emerged as Qaiser raised questions regarding the names of candidates.
“I have no clue if Imran Khan approved it or not. I don’t want to comment on it,” Qaiser made these comments while speaking during an interview with a private news channel on Friday.
The comments came at a argument when the top party leadership sees rifts and differences in opinion concerning major choices including making an alliance with the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) after February 8 elections.
