This model represents the 6th generation of the Elantra series, which debuted in South Korea in September 2015. The initial Elantra was introduced in 1990 and received a mid-term update in 1993. Subsequently, the second-generation Elantra arrived in 1995, featuring enhanced body design and expanded engine choices. A facelift followed in 1998. The third generation, launched in 2000, incorporated modern features like power steering and airbags, and received a facelift in 2004.
The fourth-generation Elantra, introduced in 2006 at the New York Auto Show, showcased a distinctive ‘coke bottle styling.’ The fifth generation emerged in 2010 with a sleek new design and increased engine options, followed by a facelift in 2013.
The Hyundai Elantra comes with a four-year/100,000-kilometer warranty.
Exterior
The 6th Generation Hyundai Elantra boasts an elegant and sleek design. It features a dominant front grille complemented by dynamic LED quad projector headlamps and LED daytime running lights. The rear exhibits sporty rear combination LED tail lamps. The car’s two-toned rear bumper with reflectors contributes to its sporty aesthetics. The Elantra’s coupe-like roofline is enhanced by a smart electric sunroof. LED lights line the side mirrors, while the rear is fitted with a shark fin antenna.
Interior
Inside, the Hyundai Elantra’s 6th Generation offers a luxurious environment with leather-wrapped seats. The power-adjustable front seats include features like adjustable headrests, height adjustments, lumbar support, and footrests. The rear seats also provide adjustable headrests, an armrest with cupholders, and a 60/40 split option for increased storage. The TFT LCD instrument display showcases an optitron meter, digital speedometer, and tachometer. The power steering, wrapped in leather, is three-spoked and offers tilt and telescopic adjustments along with steering switches for audio, voice commands, and Multi Information Display (MID).
The central fascia accommodates a 7-inch LCD that supports radio, mp3, and Bluetooth functions. It’s also connected to the rear camera. With 6 speakers, the Elantra GLS provides an impressive audio experience. This variant comes equipped with a dual-zone air conditioner featuring rear ventilation and climate control. The GLS also offers wireless and USB charging options. Safety features include Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with electronic brake-force distribution (EBD) and brake assist. Other amenities comprise push-button start/stop, automatic central door locking, speed-sensing door locks, manual child safety locks, keyless entry, and an immobilizer for enhanced security. Ride & Handling
The Elantra GLS is noted for its easy handling and smooth performance across diverse road conditions. It maintains stability even at high speeds, offering a comfortable driving experience. However, the 2023 Elantra’s engine is considered underpowered for high-speed driving. The car’s suspension system effectively absorbs shocks, contributing to a comfortable ride.
Maintenance
Due to its recent introduction to the market, Hyundai Elantra’s maintenance presents challenges. Auto parts may not be readily available and could be expensive.
