Babar Azam maintains his position as the world’s best ODI batsman

DUBAI – Former Pakistan captain Babar Azam retained his top spot in the latest ODI rankings issued by the International Cricket Council (ICC) on Wednesday. Azam, a right-handed batsman, maintains his leading position with a total of 824 points.

Following closely are three Indian players: Shubman Gill with 801 points, Virat Kohli with 768 points, and Rohit Sharma with 746 points.

In other movements, Sri Lanka’s Charith Asalanka has surged up five places to secure the 15th position overall after his unbeaten knock of 97 runs in the second match of the series.

Pathum Nissanka has also climbed impressively, advancing 10 spots to the 18th position following his remarkable double century in the series opener. Additionally, Sadeera Samarawickrama has climbed six positions to 41st place, boosted by a stylish half-century performance.

Meanwhile, in the Test rankings, there have been minimal changes at the top. Kane Williamson has extended his lead at the pinnacle of the batter’s list after scoring centuries in the first Test against South Africa. Jasprit Bumrah continues to lead the bowler’s rankings.

Kyle Jamieson, the New Zealand pacer, has made significant strides, moving up six places to eighth overall after claiming six wickets in the match against South Africa in Mount Maunganui.

Additionally, Jamieson has climbed two spots to 13th on the list for Test all-rounders, aided by his contribution of 8* with the bat against South Africa. Ravindra Jadeja of India maintains a comfortable lead in the all-rounder category.
