The Sindh Education Department has proposed suspending classes in dangerous and partially damaged school buildings during the monsoon season to ensure the safety of students and teachers.
Under the proposed plan, schools declared unsafe will be vacated and students will be shifted to nearby institutions. Officials have also been instructed to make alternative arrangements across all 30 districts of the province.
The department’s monitoring wing has identified 6,220 schools as dangerous. According to details shared by education authorities, 6,283 of these are primary schools.

Lists of the unsafe schools have been provided to the respective deputy commissioners. District administrations will now identify nearby schools where students from the affected institutions can continue their classes.
The need for alternative arrangements is particularly high in Badin, Mirpurkhas and Tharparkar, where a larger number of dangerous school buildings have been reported.
Deputy commissioners have started identifying suitable schools and will coordinate with district education officials to finalise arrangements for affected students. The aim is to ensure children can continue their education without being exposed to unsafe buildings.
The proposed measures have been planned ahead of the monsoon season, as heavy rainfall could further damage already weakened structures. The Sindh government aims to protect students and teachers while ensuring that their education continues during the rainy season.
