Punjab to use social media influencers for family planning campaign

The Punjab Health and Population Department has decided to bring social media influencers on board to help promote family planning across the province.

As part of the initiative, the government will launch a digital awareness campaign on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok. A budget of Rs565 million has been set aside for the project in the upcoming financial year.

Through this campaign, influencers and public opinion leaders will raise awareness about family planning while encouraging responsible practices and balanced population growth.

Officials believe social media platforms will make it easier to connect with young people and married couples, allowing family planning messages to reach a much larger audience.

The campaign is also intended to improve public perception of family planning by working with digital creators, well-known personalities, and social opinion leaders who can engage people through online content.

Budget documents show that the government has already spent Rs182.7 million on the project. In addition, more than Rs31.6 million has been proposed for the program in the 2027-28 financial year.

The initiative highlights the Punjab government’s increasing focus on using social media to address public health and population-related issues.

Under the campaign, influencers will produce and share content aimed at increasing awareness of family planning services and helping families make informed decisions.
