The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has expected rainfall across Punjab from March 2 to March 4, bringing relief from the rising temperatures at the start of Ramadan.
According to the Punjab Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), most districts in the province will experience rain, including Rawalpindi, Jhelum, Attock, Chakwal, Sargodha, Mianwali, Khushab, and Mandi Bahauddin.
Cities such as Lahore, Sheikhupura, Hafizabad, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Sialkot, Narowal, Faisalabad, and Toba Tek Singh are also expected to experience rainfall.
Rainfall is also expected for southern regions as Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, Bahawalpur, Khanewal, Layyah, Bhakkar, Sahiwal, and Pakpattan.
Rain and snowfall have been expected in the hill areas of Murree and Galyat. PDMA Director-General Irfan Ali Khatia has alerted local authorities to stay prepared for any possible disruptions caused by the weather.
The PDMA has also warned key departments such as WASA, Rescue, Irrigation, and Livestock to be on high alert. Citizens are advised to avoid unnecessary travel during the rainy spell.
The PDMA control room is actively monitoring the situation, with emergency assistance available through its helpline (1129).
In Lahore, temperatures have dropped following recent rain and snowfall, with a recorded low of 10°C. The weather is expected to remain cold and dry for the next two days, with another rain system approaching by March 3.
Meanwhile, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is also bracing for further rainfall, thunderstorms, and snowfall in mountainous areas.
The PMD has warned that districts such as Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Shangla, and others will experience wet conditions until March 4.
The PDMA has advised local administrations to remain alert for potential hazards, including falling trees and electricity disruptions.
