Karachi: The government of Pakistan has initiated the process of blocking unregistered Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) nationwide. According to Daily Magazine sources, PTA has blocked VPNs by a firewall and is temporarily blocked for whitelisting.
PTA advises businesses such as IT companies, software houses, freelancers, and banks to register their IPs and continue using VPN and non-interrupted internet services for authorized users.
To register for authorization, a user must provide information about the intention of the VPN usage.
It is further reported that the PTA commenced the registration of VPNs in 2010, and around 20,500 VPNs have been registered.
Virtual Private Network (VPN) is used to bypass restricted content, like in Pakistan, users use VPNs to bypass social media X (formerly known as Twitter)
