Sindh to launch new attendance system for school staff

The Sindh government has decided to roll out a digital attendance system for teachers and school staff that will use facial recognition and geo fencing technology.

The move has been taken on the instructions of Sindh Education Minister Syed Sardar Ali Shah, after which the School Education Department set up a committee to oversee its implementation.

According to the plan, both teaching and non teaching employees will be registered through the FRAMES system, where their verification will be made compulsory. Officials explained that attendance will be marked through a mobile application based on facial recognition, while geo fencing will connect the system with the exact location of each school.

Authorities will be able to track attendance on a daily basis through a real-time dashboard. The implementation committee consists of data analysts, HRMIS officials, district and tehsil level officers, as well as a representative from the application developer to provide technical assistance.

Officials also confirmed that teachers’ biometric records and personal profiles have been linked with their respective schools to support the new arrangement. The education minister said the initiative is aimed at improving discipline within the education sector and strengthening monitoring through a transparent attendance mechanism.

He further noted that the use of modern technology is expected to raise teaching standards and ensure better supervision of schools. The mobile application is likely to be officially launched after Eid.
