Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Amjad Hussain Advocate was sworn in as the new chief minister of Gilgit-Baltistan on Monday.
Gilgit-Baltistan Governor Syed Mehdi Shah administered the oath during a ceremony in Gilgit. The event was attended by a large gathering, including PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.
Speaking after taking oath, Amjad Hussain said the PPP had emerged as the largest party in the Gilgit-Baltistan elections held on June 7. He credited young voters and women for playing an important role in the electoral process and said PPP candidates had won in their respective constituencies.
“I thank those who gave the Pakistan Peoples Party a 100% result in the elections,” he said.

The newly sworn-in chief minister said the people had once again placed their trust in the PPP by giving the party a strong mandate and greater responsibility. “This relationship is not new; it spans three generations,” he said.
He added that the PPP had won a strong mandate in Diamer for the first time. Despite not being in power at the Centre, the party continued to receive the public’s support, he said, while thanking the party leadership for standing by him.
Amjad Hussain also expressed gratitude to the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leadership for supporting the PPP in forming the government.
