Prominent Pakistani fast bowler, Wahab Riaz, has chosen to conclude his involvement in all formats of international cricket after dedicating over a decade to representing his nation.
Using his social media platforms, the left-arm pacer declared his retirement, stating, “After an incredible journey, I have decided to retire from international cricket.”
Hailing from Lahore, the cricketer conveyed his appreciation to the Pakistan Cricket Board for the opportunities provided and extended gratitude to his family, coaches, mentors, teammates, and fans for their unwavering support.

Following the 2019 World Cup held in England, Wahab Riaz initially retired from Test cricket to concentrate entirely on white-ball cricket and participate in T20 leagues globally.
Earlier this year, the 38-year-old fast bowler mentioned during an interview that he intends to retire from international cricket following the forthcoming ODI World Cup 2023, scheduled to be held in India.
Expressing his perspective, Wahab Riaz stated, “If I remain fully fit and my passion for the game of cricket remains strong as well, obviously if I am performing I will carry on,”
Throughout his career, Wahab Riaz played an indispensable role in the national setup for more than ten years, contributing to 27 Tests, 91 ODIs, and 36 T20I matches.
Debuting in 2010, Wahab has accumulated a notable record of achievements, including securing wickets in Tests, 120 wickets in ODIs, and 34 wickets in T20Is, often single-handedly clinching victories for Pakistan.
Notably, Wahab Riaz is currently fulfilling the role of a caretaker provincial Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs in Punjab.
