The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) has issued a weather alert for the UAE, predicting heavy rain and dust storms in the coming week.
These weather patterns are due to a surface low-pressure system from the Southwest, along with an upper air depression and a westerly trough.
For Sunday and Monday, expect partly cloudy to cloudy conditions with heavy rainfall possible, especially in Northern, Eastern, and coastal areas. Temperatures will drop by Monday, particularly in western regions.
Winds will shift from southeasterly to northwesterly, ranging from light to moderate, occasionally becoming fresh, leading to blowing dust and sand, especially in cloudy conditions.
Sea conditions will vary from slight to moderate, occasionally becoming rough in the Arabian Gulf and Oman Sea.
Last week’s recorded rainfall was significant, equaling that received by the UAE three decades ago, causing flooding and prompting remote work and learning arrangements.
To increase rainfall, the UAE conducted 27 cloud seeding operations targeting clouds with favorable conditions characterized by strong updrafts and high humidity.
