Tesla has completed the construction of its first-ever Cybertruck, marking the end of a two-year delay. The company shared an image on Twitter showcasing workers wearing hard hats around the sleek vehicle, which was assembled at Tesla’s Gigafactory near Austin, Texas.
Initially unveiled as a prototype in 2019, the Cybertruck faced setbacks and delays. Production was originally planned to begin in late 2021 but was hindered when the truck’s windows broke unexpectedly during a demonstration. Tesla CEO Elon Musk cited challenges in the supply chain as another factor contributing to the delay.
In 2021, Tesla confirmed that an updated version of the Cybertruck was being developed. Production is now set to commence in 2023, with full-scale production anticipated in 2024. With the release of the Cybertruck, Tesla will enter the competitive market of electric pickup trucks, facing rivals such as Rivian’s R1T, the Ford F-150 Lightning, and the GMC Hummer EV pickup.
