In an unfortunate incident in the Khyber district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), a Pakistan Army soldier was martyred, and a terrorist was killed during a firefight, as reported by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) in a statement issued on Friday.
The ISPR, the military’s media affairs wing, disclosed that the exchange of fire occurred during the night of August 31 and September 1 in the general area of Tirah in Khyber District. Army troops engaged effectively with the terrorists, resulting in the elimination of one terrorist. The ISPR noted that this particular terrorist had been actively involved in various terrorist activities targeting security forces and innocent civilians.
Tragically, Havildar Muntazir Shah, aged 36, displayed remarkable courage but embraced martyrdom during the intense firefight. The military is currently conducting a thorough sanitization operation in the area to root out any other terrorists present.
Earlier today, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir visited Bannu in KP, where nine soldiers were martyred in a suicide bombing incident. He emphasized that the nation cannot be coerced by the cowardly tactics of terrorists who wrongly believe they can challenge the resolve of soldiers and the authority of the state.
General Munir reaffirmed that the nation has been fighting terrorism for an extended period and will continue to do so until its complete eradication. He paid tribute to those who have sacrificed their lives, emphasizing that their bravery will always be honored.
Regarding the Bannu attack, a suicide bomber on a motorcycle targeted a military convoy in the Jani Khel area, resulting in the martyrdom of nine soldiers, including Naib Subedar Sanobar Ali, and injuring five others. Security forces have cordoned off the area and are actively conducting sanitization operations to eliminate any remaining terrorists.
The army’s information wing reiterated its determination to eliminate terrorism and highlighted that the sacrifices made by brave soldiers only strengthen their resolve.
In response to this tragic terrorist incident, Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar expressed his profound sadness at the loss of nine valiant soldiers to such a cowardly act of terrorism that also caused injuries to many.
