Actor Adnan Siddiqui and music fans have expressed displeasure over an Indian artist’s remix of the song “Akhiyaan De Kol.” The song was originally sung by legendary Pakistani singer Reshma and written by Sehra Gurdas Puri but has been reinterpreted by Indian singer Shilpa Rao. Tanishk Bagchi, lyrics by Kausar Munir, wrote the new version.
Siddiqui took to social media to criticize the makers of the song, saying, “Imitation can be flattering, but not when it means disrespecting a classic from a legend.” Please pay tribute to Reshmaji and the legacy she left behind. He stressed that his music deserves dignity and should not be treated as a cheap copy.
Along with Siddiqui’s statement, many social media users expressed their disappointment in the YouTube comments section. One user said, “Please stop stealing Pakistani songs,” while another added: “They have ruined one of the best songs.” A third user said, “Reshma ji never imagined that his song would be treated like this.”
