Former Indian tennis star Sania Mirza has expressed her dismay regarding the persistent scrutiny of women’s achievements despite their professional success.
Sania, who tied the knot with Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik in 2010 and recently parted ways with him, shared her disappointment over an advertisement by an Indian company offering home-based beauty and care services.
The ad “really hit home” featured a woman who purchased a car with her hard-earned money but faced judgment for her profession as a masseuse.
Reflecting on her own experiences, Sania stated, “In my career, even after winning 6 grand slams, I got more questions about my personal life, than my game.”
According to Daily Pakistan, Sania Mirza expressed her frustration on her Instagram Story stating, “It’s 2024, when will learn to meet women’s achievements without questions?”
It’s worth noting that Sania, now 37, finalized her divorce from Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik following their separation in late 2022, as revealed last month. Sources disclosed that the tennis player was unhappy with Malik’s interactions with other women, a matter she had been overlooking for some time.
