The interim Punjab government issued the Imran Khan-led party an ultimatum to hand over the “militants” residing in Zaman Park as Pakistan’s top civil and military leaders decided restraint won’t be used any longer against May 9 offenders.
The Punjab government issued the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf a 24-hour ultimatum to hand over over 40 “terrorists” who have taken refuge at the former prime ministers’s home following unprecedented destruction.
Aamir Mir, the interim information minister for Punjab, claimed during a news conference in the provincial capital that the government has reliable intelligence inputs indicating the presence of terrorists at the PTI leader’s well-known mansion in Lahore.
The previous ruling party was referred to as a non-state actor by Mir, who described the intelligence inspection as “alarming” and said that agencies had used geo-fencing to confirm the presence of “terrorists” at Zaman Park. The minister claimed that the damage and arson were plotted by PTI before to Imran Khan’s imprisonment.
The Punjab police have been allowed free reign to deal with those who were involved in arson as the government has taken a zero-tolerance policy towards it under interim Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi.
He recalled the events of May 9 and claimed that numerous terrorists were in constant communication with Zaman Park during the attack on the Corps Commander House.
He also mentioned civilian trials in military courts, stating that those that have already been held are being thoroughly examined. At least 800 attackers have been identified, and 78 have been physically remanded, according to Mir, who added that approximately 3,400 attackers have been captured in numerous operations.
