In response to severe cold weather conditions, Caretaker Chief Minister Punjab, Mohsin Naqvi, has announced an extension of the winter break for students up to grade 1.
This decision comes after numerous child deaths attributed to pneumonia, prompting the postponement of examinations scheduled for this month.
The additional week of closure for schools in Punjab aims to address the immediate health concerns of children. In an emergency meeting held at Children’s Hospital in Lahore, Naqvi emphasized the prevalence of pneumonia among children, with a notable impact on infants under six months.
