Prince Harry’s recent Netflix documentary release has seemingly garnered little response from his royal relatives, as they remain silent in the wake of his fresh critique of the monarchy ahead of his upcoming visit to the UK.
Notably, King Charles, who reportedly did not extend an invitation to his son Harry to join the family at Balmoral on the Queen’s first death anniversary, has not publicly addressed the Duke’s comments. Likewise, other prominent members of the royal family, such as Prince William and Kate Middleton, have refrained from sharing their perspective on Harry’s new revelations.
Despite the potential for reconciliation with his royal relatives ahead of his trip to Europe, Prince Harry appears to have further strained their relationship with his remarks in “Heart of Invictus.” In the documentary, he expressed feelings of not being adequately supported upon his return from Afghanistan after participating in the war and recounted the emotional challenges of losing his mother, Princess Diana, at the age of 12.
Royal experts and enthusiasts have offered varying opinions on Prince Harry’s new show, which was released on Netflix. Many viewers have commended the series for spotlighting wounded veterans from several countries, including Britain, the USA, South Korea, Denmark, and Ukraine.
However, some critics have accused Prince Harry of repeating past mistakes, alleging that he took a veiled swipe at the Royal Family when discussing his lack of a support network upon returning from Afghanistan.
Sky News royal correspondent Laura Bundock noted that “Heart of Invictus” marks a departure from Prince Harry’s previous Netflix series, “Harry & Meghan.” She suggested that even individuals who may have criticized Harry in the past would acknowledge the positive impact of the Invictus Games project and see it as a step forward.
Bundock also speculated that the royal family would likely not object to watching the series.
Another expert, after viewing the documentary, commented that the “old Prince Harry” seemed to have made a return.
