On Sunday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized the necessity for Pakistan to attain economic self-sufficiency, stating that the nation should move beyond reliance on others for economic advancement.
Referring to tough decisions made by the coalition government during its 16-month term, Shehbaz asserted that breaking free from the “begging bowl” mindset was crucial for progress.
During his farewell address, the premier mentioned, “The poor have made enough sacrifices, and now it is incumbent upon the privileged class to contribute to the nation’s development.”
Setting the foundation for future growth, he remarked, “We have sowed the seeds of advancement, yet the continuity of our policies is imperative. I hold the belief that if these policies are upheld for the next five years, they will yield favourable outcomes.”
Through the framework of the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC), he further added, significant initiatives are poised to launch in sectors like information technology, mining, and agriculture.
He highlighted that various federal institutions, supported by defense establishments, have already commenced efforts toward these projects.
