Pakistan exports seafood worth $322.9 million in 9 months

Pakistan’s seafood exports have increased by 8.15% over the first nine months of the current fiscal year, with 151,787 metric tons of fish and related products worth $322.906 million shipped abroad, compared to 145,671 metric tons valued at $289.568 million during the same stretch last year, according to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics.

Meanwhile, exports of meat and related items also saw a slight uptick of 0.99%, totaling 90,578 metric tons valued at $391.118 million, up from 93,587 metric tons worth $387.279 million previously.

Basmati rice exports surged as well, with over 663,980 metric tons worth $676.967 million sold internationally, compared to 545,223 metric tons valued at $622.347 million in the same period last year.

For non-basmati rice, exports remained relatively steady, 4.017 million tons worth $2.080 billion were exported, compared to 4.011 million tons worth $2.308 billion last year.

Overall, the country’s food group exports grew by 1.62%, reaching $5.749 billion between July and March of FY2024- 25, up from $5.658 billion the year before.

In contrast, food imports dropped by 2.74%, totaling $6.118 billion, down from $6.290 billion in the same period last year.
