Nigel Harman, the 50-year-old actor from Casualty, has regrettably withdrawn from the popular dance competition, Strictly Come Dancing, just hours before the anticipated quarter-finals.
The actor sustained a rib injury while rehearsing a jump for his Charleston routine with partner Katya Jones. The injury led to a hospital visit, compelling Harman to forgo his performance in the competition.
During Saturday night’s show, Harman, known for his role in Casualty, humorously shared the circumstances surrounding his injury with host Claudia Winkleman.

He explained, “I was leaping off a rostrum and was about to be caught by some very handsome men, and as I flew, I was Peter Pan, and as I landed, I was in A&E. I’ve done something to my rib basically, and it’s quite painful. I’m a little bit high on painkillers as well, but I’m having a lovely time.”
Expressing his affection for the show, Harman revealed that the realization of not being able to compete had not fully sunk in.
His departure reduces the competition to only four remaining celebrities – Ellie Leach, Annabel Croft, Layton Williams, and Bobby Brazier.
Fellow contestants, including Annabel Croft and Layton Williams, extended heartfelt messages of support on social media.
The Strictly Come Dancing show had to make adjustments, eliminating the public vote and any contestant elimination for that weekend.
Nigel Harman’s unfortunate withdrawal adds to the list of celebrities leaving the competition prematurely, following actor Amanda Abbington’s exit in October due to medical and personal reasons.
As the show continues, fans are left eagerly anticipating the next performances and developments in the quest for the coveted Strictly Come Dancing title.
