Former NFL player Michael Oher, famously portrayed in “The Blind Side,” claims the couple who took him in deceived him by placing him in a conservatorship instead of adopting him, according to a court filing.
In a petition filed in Shelby County Court, Oher accuses Leigh Anne Tuohy and Sean Tuohy, portrayed in the movie, of benefiting financially from his story while he received no compensation. The Tuohy family reportedly received $225,000 and a percentage of the film’s earnings, while Oher got nothing.
The petition contends that Oher was misled into signing conservatorship papers, giving up his legal rights, believing it was part of the adoption process.
Oher, who overcame a challenging upbringing, seeks the termination of the conservatorship and an injunction against the Tuohys using his name and likeness. The Tuohys have yet to respond to the allegations.
