The UAE Central Bank has introduced a new Dh500 banknote, showcasing the country’s commitment to sustainability. The polymer note, retaining its recognizable blue hue, features prominent landmarks and emphasizes environmental responsibility.
The front side showcases the Terra Sustainability Pavilion in Expo City Dubai, reflecting the UAE’s dedication to a sustainable future inspired by Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. This architectural marvel symbolizes the nation’s commitment to sustainable development.
On the reverse side, attention is drawn to the Museum of the Future in Dubai, blending past and future architectural brilliance. Iconic landmarks like Emirates Towers and the Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building, stand tall, emphasizing sustainability through solar power.
In a significant move towards environmental friendliness, the Central Bank opted for a polymer material, making the banknote more than twice as durable as traditional ones and fully recyclable. This choice aligns with the nation’s commitment to reducing its environmental footprint.
Enhancing security, the new banknote incorporates multicolored security chip technology called KINEGRAM COLORS. This step positions the UAE as the first country in the Middle East to implement the largest foil strip of its kind on banknotes.
The technology, previously used in the new Dh1000 banknote, sets a pioneering standard in the fight against counterfeiting across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.
The introduction of this sustainable and secure Dh500 banknote marks a milestone in the UAE’s efforts to merge technological innovation, environmental consciousness, and cultural significance.
