- New pink toilets for women in Bahawalpur Division.
- Improved hygiene, privacy, and cleanliness.
- Nominal fee for quality amenities.
In an effort to address a pressing issue, Dr. Ehtesham Anwar Mahar, the Commissioner of Bahawalpur, has taken a significant step by mandating the creation of well-maintained “pink toilets” exclusively for women. This initiative has identified specific locations for these facilities. Five stations in Bahawalnagar, six in Rahim Yar Khan, and ten in Bahawalpur districts within the Bahawalpur Division.
Recognizing a critical deficiency, the Punjab government has come to the realization that women in the country are currently deprived of separate restroom facilities along major roadways. This lack of dedicated spaces has forced women to compromise on both hygiene and privacy when utilizing public restrooms. To rectify this issue, the newly established pink toilets will cater exclusively to women and offer a range of amenities.
These pink restrooms will be equipped with essential amenities such as soap, hand wash facilities, tissue papers, and will be meticulously maintained around the clock to ensure cleanliness and hygiene standards are upheld. To sustain this high standard of maintenance, users will be required to contribute a nominal fee.
This initiative represents a significant stride towards improving the quality of life for women in Bahawalpur Division. Prioritizing their health, hygiene, and privacy. It reflects a thoughtful response to a long-standing issue, aiming to provide a safe and dignified restroom experience for women traveling along major roads. Through this endeavor, the government of Punjab is taking concrete steps to promote gender equality. Also enhance the overall well-being of its female citizens.
