Islamabad – The federal government has submitted a request to the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) to raise electricity prices for consumers in Karachi.
The proposal is for an increase of Rs1.72 per unit, covering adjustments for the second and third quarters of the last fiscal year.
Specifically, the government is asking for a 47 paisas per unit hike for the second quarter of the fiscal year 2022-23 and a Rs1.25 increase for the preceding third quarter.
Additionally, an extra charge has been proposed to maintain consistent electricity tariffs nationwide. Nepra will review and discuss this request in a hearing scheduled for December 20.
