The Multan Sultans have grabbed attention with a groundbreaking move: appointing their first-ever female General Manager (GM) in Pakistan Super League (PSL) history.
At just 28 years old, Hijab Zahid makes history as both the youngest GM for the franchise and one of the few women globally leading a T20 franchise.

Presently holding the role of Director of Grassroots Cricket since the start of the year, Zahid steps into the shoes of outgoing GM, Haider Azhar. She holds a master’s degree in Project Management from the University of Hertfordshire and previously served as a media manager for Islamabad United.
Ali Tareen, a co-owner of the team, enthusiastically revealed the news, hailing Zahid as “South Asia’s first female GM in men’s cricket.” He commended her as “the most qualified general manager among all PSL sides” and expressed plans to appoint three female coaches before PSL’s commencement, promoting gender equality within the franchise.

Zahid acknowledged the challenges she might face as a woman in leadership, highlighting the struggle to assert authority. She aims to initiate conversations and workshops to facilitate the transition to having a woman in a managerial role. Zahid envisions training women for roles such as analysts and media managers, opening doors for more women in sports.
