In response to dense fog and low visibility, the M-1 Motorway from Peshawar to Rashakai has been temporarily closed for traffic by the National Highways and Motorway Police (NH&MP). The decision aims to ensure the safety of citizens, and authorities advise against unnecessary travel during early morning hours.
To enhance road safety in challenging weather conditions, the motorway police recommend using both front and back fog lights.
In a related update, the National Highways and Motorway Police have declared that vehicles lacking an M-Tag will not be permitted on the motorways. Citizens are urged to obtain an M-Tag before December 31, as strict enforcement will begin thereafter.
Earlier this year, NHMP significantly increased fines, with a staggering 900% hike. The penalty for exceeding the speed limit surged from Rs. 750 to Rs. 2500. Notably, the fine for obstructing an emergency vehicle saw the most substantial increase, soaring from Rs. 500 to Rs. 5000.
Other fines for violations like driving without proper lights at night, driving on the wrong side, and driving without a license have also witnessed significant increments. It’s crucial for motorists to stay informed about these changes and adhere to the updated regulations for a safer driving experience.
