Lenny Kravitz was celebrated with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, joined by his daughter Zoë Kravitz and close friend Denzel Washington.
Reflecting on his journey, Kravitz acknowledged Norman Lear for his Hollywood breakthrough through his mother Roxie Roker’s role in “The Jeffersons.”
Recalling his teenage years in Los Angeles, Kravitz expressed gratitude to the city for providing opportunities, stating, “I used to walk these very streets because the action in the grit that I was missing in New York was right here in Hollywood.”
Acknowledging the significance of having his name engraved on the same streets he once walked, Kravitz described the feeling as “surreal” and “indescribable.”
Denzel Washington expressed deep affection for Kravitz, emphasizing their strong bond, saying, “We’re close friends. We are brothers. I love Lenny Kravitz.”

Marla Gibbs, star of “The Jeffersons,” aged 92, and Zoë Kravitz’s fiancé Channing Tatum were among the attendees. Kravitz expressed awe at having individuals who were present at the start of his career gathered together.
Reflecting on his musical journey, Kravitz emphasized following his heart and resisting pressures to change his music.
He turned down record deals that wanted him to alter his style, stating, “I knew that there was something special that I needed to do, but I didn’t have it yet.”
