- The Pakistan Meteorological Department predicts hot and humid weather in various Punjab districts.
- Lahore’s Air Quality Index (AQI) has reached 156, categorized as “unhealthy.”
- Weak moist currents from the Arabian Sea are influencing upper regions of Pakistan.
In its latest update, the Pakistan Meteorological Department has projected a prevailing pattern of hot and humid weather across various districts of Punjab, including Lahore. While a number of cities are anticipated to have partly sunny skies accompanied by clouds, the temperature in Lahore is expected to range between 35°C to 38°C.
Notably, the city experienced mostly cloudy conditions recently, with gentle winds blowing at a speed of 9km/h. The forecast also indicates a Maximum Ultraviolet UV Index of 7, and the usual cloud cover is predicted to be slightly reduced, allowing for visibility of approximately 16km.
Regrettably, the Air Quality Index (AQI) reading for Lahore has been recorded at 156, falling into the “unhealthy” category. The air quality has significantly deteriorated due to heightened pollution levels, posing risks, particularly for individuals with sensitivities. Experts are advising those who experience symptoms such as breathing difficulties or throat irritation to minimize outdoor activities.
The meteorological dynamics contributing to these weather conditions involve weak moist currents emanating from the Arabian Sea that are entering the upper regions of the country. Additionally, a westerly wave is currently influencing the upper areas of the nation.
Expectations for the weather entail predominantly hot and humid conditions in the low-lying regions of Pakistan. However, there is a probability of sporadic rain, wind, and thundershowers in isolated spots within the Potohar region, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit Baltistan, Kashmir, and the adjacent hilly terrain.
