In the early hours of Thursday, Lahore, the capital of Punjab, experienced a gentle rainfall, offering a much-needed break from the severe air pollution affecting the city of over 22 million residents.
Although the overall air quality in Lahore slightly improved after the light rain, the Air Quality Index (AQI) still indicates an unhealthy level of air pollution.
The midnight showers not only refreshed Lahore’s skyline but also provided a breath of fresh air for individuals grappling with respiratory issues. Consequently, the city dropped to the sixth position in the list of most polluted cities.
Rainfall was widespread across various areas, including Mall Road, Gulberg, Iqbal Town, Multan Road, Thokar Niaz Baig, Jail Road, Canal Road, and other parts of the city. The showers also led to a decrease in temperature, with the recorded reading standing at 16 degrees Celsius.
