- Lahore District Administration Extends Market and Restaurant Timings to Foster Economic Activities.
- Revised Hours Benefit Small and Large Markets, Allowing Cafes, Malls, and Eateries to Operate Until 11 pm.
- Vital Establishments Such as Pharmacies, Medical Stores, and Hospitals Remain Unaffected by the Updated Operational Hours.
In a recent announcement, the district administration has revealed its decision to extend operational hours for markets and restaurants in a bid to invigorate economic endeavors in the second-largest city of the country.
This strategic move comes as traders across the nation grapple with the repercussions of a severe economic downturn. The Lahore district government has consequently made revisions to business hours, granting cafes, malls, and eateries the permission to stay open until 11 pm, a notable extension from the previous closing time.
This alteration in operating hours applies uniformly to both small and large markets, effectively stretching business hours by an additional hour. The government’s official notification encompasses a range of establishments including shopping malls, sweet shops, bakeries, restaurants, hotels, coffee shops, and cafes.
Moreover, essential services such as pharmacies, puncture shops, petrol pumps, CNG stations, medical stores, tandoors, milk shops, hospitals, and laboratories will continue to provide their services without any restrictions, as emphasized in the official statement.
It is worth recalling that earlier this year, the preceding government under the PDM alliance had sanctioned an energy conservation initiative aimed at implementing early closure of markets. The underlying objective of this initiative was to curtail electricity consumption across various federal government departments by an ambitious 30 percent.
