Bollywood actress Kriti Sanon, renowned for her breakout role in the 2014 film “Heropanti,” has candidly shared her experiences as an industry outsider. Speaking to Pinkvilla, she delved into the topic of nepotism and its impact on her career. On her 33rd birthday on July 27, let’s explore Sanon’s journey and upcoming ventures.
Since her debut, Sanon has starred in a string of successful movies, including “Dilwale,” “Raabta,” “Bareilly Ki Barfi,” “Luka Chuppi,” and “Housefull 4.” Her most recent appearance was in “Adipurush” alongside Prabhas and Saif Ali Khan, which garnered mixed reviews upon its release in June.
Discussing her career ambitions and the challenges she’s faced, Sanon shared, “I’m very ambitious and I know that I have the potential to do a lot more. I want to work with certain A-list directors. So I have got great opportunities but if I compare, there are a few more which I really want and I’d love to have. The difference is still there. I don’t mind reaching out to directors. If I had been from a film family, I would not have to reach out.”
Despite instances of star kids replacing her in certain projects, Sanon remains steadfast in her dedication to her craft. She acknowledged, “It irritates you a little bit and you feel bad. What else can you do beyond a point? But everyone has their own share of successes or failures. Things happen or don’t happen for a reason. Sometimes, I didn’t get a film I really wanted to do and then, it hasn’t worked as well. So maybe, some of it was for good.”
Sanon’s upcoming filmography holds promise. She is set to feature in “The Crew” alongside Kareena Kapoor and Tabu, a project produced by Ekta and Rhea Kapoor. Additionally, she is working on an untitled venture with Shahid Kapoor. She will also be part of “Ganapath,” directed by Vikas Bahl and starring Amitabh Bachchan and Tiger Shroff, with plans for release this year.
