The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a weather forecast indicating predominantly hot and humid conditions in the flat areas of the southeastern region of the country, including the provincial capital, Karachi. This weather pattern is anticipated to persist over the next 24 hours.
While the sultry and oppressive weather remains prevalent in various other parts of the nation, the weather forecast department has projected a slight possibility of light rain in the coastal regions.
As of today, the temperature in Karachi has reached 32°C at noon. However, it is predicted to decline to around 29 or 30°C in the evening.
In terms of air quality, Karachi has experienced an air quality index of 62 for the day. According to AccuWeather, the financial capital is grappling with elevated pollution levels, which are categorized as unhealthy for individuals who are more susceptible to respiratory issues. It is advisable for individuals experiencing symptoms like breathing difficulties or throat irritation to limit their outdoor exposure.
A monsoon alert has been issued due to weak moist currents originating from the Bay of Bengal, which are entering the central and upper regions of the country. The Meteorological Office has forecasted that numerous areas in Pakistan will receive additional monsoon rainfall with intermittent breaks until August 27th.
The PMD has noted the influence of a westerly wave on the upper regions of the nation, while monsoon currents originating from the Arabian Sea are penetrating the upper parts of the country.
Expectations include rain accompanied by wind and thundershowers in regions such as the Potohar area, Islamabad, upper Punjab, northeast Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit Baltistan, and Kashmir.
