According to analysts, Karachi is expected to experience scorching temperatures as the mercury is forecasted to reach 40°C. Temperatures are predicted to fluctuate between 35°C and 37°C initially and could rise to 40°C by the weekend.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) reported that Karachi witnessed a high of 36°C on Monday, with temperatures expected to rise to 38°C within the next 24 hours. The “feels like” temperature during peak daytime hours could reach 40°C to 42°C.
The current weather pattern in Karachi is attributed to continental air from the western side, blowing at 14km per hour, with a humidity level of 67%.
Light winds from the west and southwest are expected throughout the week, with humidity ranging from 40% to 50% during peak sunlight hours, increasing to 80% at night.
Analysts expect a week-long heatwave in Karachi, potentially reaching 40°C by the weekend. Karachi residents are advised to expect continued high temperatures with minor daily fluctuations until the onset of the monsoon season.
In the country, mostly dry weather is forecasted for Monday, with isolated instances of partly cloudy conditions and light rain-thunderstorms in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB). Similar weather patterns are expected on Tuesday, with daytime temperatures gradually rising in plain areas.
The PMD reported peak temperatures of 46°C in Jacobabad, Sindh, and 45°C in Mohenjo Daro and Dadu.
