Karachi weather: Cloudy skies, light drizzle expected to continue

Karachi is set to experience partly cloudy skies over the next few days, with light drizzle expected during the early morning and nighttime hours, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).

Low-level clouds moving in from the sea have already brought some relief, causing a slight dip in temperatures across the city.

Areas such as Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Gulshan-e-Maymar, Sohrab Goth, Scheme 33, Federal B Area, Liaquatabad, University Road, Stadium Road, and PECHS have already reported drizzle. Last night, residents in Garden, Nazimabad, Karimabad, and Sohrab Goth also saw light rain.

The return of the sea breeze, with winds blowing at 20 to 30 km/h, has further improved the weather. Daytime temperatures in Karachi are expected to remain between 33°C and 35°C in the coming days.

Elsewhere in Sindh, cities like Tharparkar, Mirpurkhas, Badin, and Tando Allahyar are also likely to see light rain, while most other districts will continue to face hot and dry conditions.

Meanwhile, a weather system has entered Punjab, expected to bring dust storms, gusty winds, and scattered rainfall across various regions, including Lahore, from today through June 23.

The Punjab Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) confirmed that pre-monsoon rains will begin this evening and affect areas such as Rawalpindi, Murree, Galyat, Attock, Chakwal, Mandi Bahauddin, Hafizabad, Gujarat, Jhelum, Gujranwala, Lahore, Faisalabad, Sialkot, Narowal, Toba Tek Singh, Jhang, Sargodha, and Mianwali.

Southern parts of the province, including Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Bahawalpur, and Bahawalnagar, are expected to receive rainfall between June 21 and June 23.

DG PDMA Irfan Ali Kathia shared that the Chief Minister’s Office has instructed all district administrations to remain on high alert. The rains are likely to ease current heatwave conditions and lower temperatures.

The public has been advised to stay indoors during storms, avoid unnecessary travel, and take safety measures during lightning. In emergencies, citizens can contact the PDMA helpline at 1129.
