Islamabad, the federal capital of Pakistan, is anticipated to experience rain, wind, and thundershowers, as stated by the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD). The PMD’s latest advisory suggests the possibility of heavy rainfall in isolated areas during Friday in Islamabad.
As of Friday, the temperature range in Islamabad was projected to be between 27°C to 31°C. The city was covered in clouds, contributing to a pleasant ambiance. Wind speeds reached approximately 14km/h, while visibility extended up to 6km.
The Air Quality Index in Islamabad registered at 17, signifying a “good” rating. The AQI level indicates that the air quality is conducive to outdoor activities for most people, providing an opportunity to engage in regular endeavors without concern.
The prevailing weather patterns involve monsoon currents originating from the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal, penetrating the upper regions of the country. Additionally, an influence from a westerly wave is affecting the central and upper parts of Pakistan.
The Meteorological Office had earlier predicted that a significant portion of Pakistan would witness continued monsoon rainfall, interspersed with intermittent breaks, until August 27.
The PMD has cautioned about potential urban flooding in low-lying regions of Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Peshawar, and Lahore from August 23 to August 26, owing to moderate to heavy rains. Furthermore, the wet spell could trigger landslides in areas vulnerable to such incidents, including Murree, Galliyat, Kashmir, Gilgit Baltistan, and the hilly terrains of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Moreover, the forecast predicts rain, wind-thundershowers, and a few instances of moderate to heavy downpours in various areas. These include Kashmir, Gilgit Baltistan, Murree, Galliyat, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Hafizabad, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Kasur, and Sheikhupura, spanning from August 23 to August 27.
