Imran Khan has chosen Barrister Gohar Ali Khan as the PTI chairman nominee for upcoming intra-party polls.
The decision comes amidst speculation of an “Imran minus” scenario due to his legal troubles. PTI Core Committee, led by Sher Afzal Marwat, formally approved the polls within the Election Commission’s timeframe.
Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, a Supreme Court Advocate from Buner, has a political history with the Pakistan Peoples Party. Despite earlier confusion, he is now a prominent PTI contender for the NA-09 seat in the upcoming general elections.
Imran Khan, the current Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has nominated Barrister Gohar Ali Khan as his candidate for the chairman position in the upcoming intra-party polls.
This decision follows speculation about an “Imran Khan minus” scenario due to his legal issues. The PTI Core Committee, led by Senior Vice-President Sher Afzal Marwat, has approved the polls within the Election Commission of Pakistan’s 20-day timeframe.
Earlier, confusion arose when lawyers claimed Imran Khan was withdrawing from the race, but the party spokesperson denied any final decision. Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, from Buner district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, is a Supreme Court Advocate.
He graduated in law from Wolverhampton University, UK, and holds an LL.M from the Washington School of Law, USA. Previously associated with the Pakistan Peoples Party, he contested the 2008 elections on their ticket but secured the third position.
Barrister Gohar Ali Khan is now a significant contender for PTI in the upcoming general elections for the NA-09 seat.
