Karachi – Imran Ismail, a prominent leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and former Sindh governor, was apprehended in Karachi on Friday. The arrest was confirmed by Arslan Taj, another PTI leader, who stated that Ismail was taken into custody near the Defence area. He has been transferred to Darakhshan Police Station.
This development follows the detention of several high-ranking leaders of the PTI, including Shah Mahmood Qureshi, by security officials. The arrests come in the wake of violent protests staged by the party in response to the earlier apprehension of their chairman, Imran Khan.
As a result of these incidents, an operation has been launched against PTI leaders and members.
