Starting today, the government has initiated the process of accepting applications for the Hajj pilgrimage, as announced by the Ministry of Religious Affairs. According to the ministry’s statement, applications will be received through 15 designated banks across the country.
The application window for the government Hajj scheme will be open from November 27 to December 12.
The ministry disclosed that around 89,605 Pakistani citizens are expected to participate in the Hajj pilgrimage next year through the government-sponsored program. A noteworthy development is that, for the first time, women are now allowed to perform Hajj without a mahram.
In case the number of applications exceeds the allotted quota, a draw will be conducted to determine the fortunate participants. A specific quota of 25,000 has been reserved for the sponsorship scheme, where overseas applicants must submit their applications in US dollars.
Those applying through this scheme, or their relatives, will be exempt from the draw, ensuring them a guaranteed spot.
To be eligible for the government-sponsored Hajj scheme, applicants must ensure that their National Identity Card remains valid until December 2024. This marks a significant moment in history, opening up new opportunities for women and streamlining the application process for a smoother Hajj experience.
